The thesis
Operator-built models. Local-first. Honest.
The thesis is short. Defense AI works when the operator is the modeler. Defense AI works when the platform runs in the room with the data. Defense AI works when the platform tells the truth about whether the model is ready to deploy.
Every research direction below is a bet on that thesis.
We do not claim the patent on it. Hypha IP is protected via trade secret, copyright, and proprietary licensing. The thesis is the part that gets to be public.

Four stages. One vehicle.
Each stage callout corresponds to a research direction. The vehicle is the platform. The stages are the research arcs that will lift the platform to TRL 9.

The agent taxonomy PEO-SDA named in the published assessment. Coordinated. Bounded. Operator-supervised.

Stage 2 / Honest evaluation
Holdout discipline. Memorization detection. DO NOT DEPLOY verdicts. Recovery guidance. The platform's truth-telling layer.

Ollama with open-weight Gemma and Nomic. On-disk ChromaDB. In-memory BM25. No commercial cloud LLM. No network egress.

Scope discipline
We will not chase research we cannot ship.
- No cloud-LLM wrapper. The operator does not get to choose whether the room has connectivity. The platform does not get to require it.
- No forward-deployed-engineer model. The unit cannot wait on our calendar. If the platform needs a vendor on-site to stand up a model, the platform has the wrong shape.
- No model we cannot honestly evaluate. Every model the platform ships has a holdout. Every holdout has a published number. If the number is bad, the platform refuses to deploy.

Intellectual property
Trade secret. Copyright. Proprietary licensing.
Hypha IP is protected via trade secret, copyright, and proprietary licensing. That is the entire IP statement. There is no patent number to publish, no patent-pending claim to make. The defensibility comes from the engineering and the validation, not from the filing.
